What is modspot

The website is meant to serve as a bridge between the various hosting platforms so it is possible to host our work wherever we please without losing the connection we have with our communities and the rest of the world.

With modspot you are able to use the hosting service of your choice, be it Google cloud, Github, Amazon, Nexusmods; and as long as the underlying service does not require an authentication method, the community will be able to discover your projects and download them without having to go on the hosting service itself. Allowing you to use modern services without forcing the end-user to become acclimated to the potentially complex user interfaces they offer.

When does it open

Modspot's first launch to the public is done through a semi-open beta phase. Anyone can access the core pages without creating an account so it is possible to use the website and read its content. However the account creation is currently restricted to a set group of people while the rough edges are being worked on.

The account creation will open a few months after the initial launch, once the platform is deemed stable enough to list everyone's projects

What's planned

Modspot's primary goal is to offer a modern and performant platform for project creators. This means it must avoid getting in your way at all cost, to do so a completely free and public API is offered so that everything can be automated from creating a project to publishing new versions. But it doesn't stop there, automation is also very important for the end-users and so it plans on supporting multi-platform notifications with mail subscriptions to keep track of anything new on the website.
