Wild Monster Hunt aims to bring the Monster Hunting experience to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. It comes with a custom map, a Witcher camp for you to upgrade, and new unique mechanics to spice things up during your hunts.
This update can be seen as a global increase in difficulty. Junk loot is more difficult to obtain, greatly lowering the access to essential items like food or alcohol. Additionally the world is more likely to spawn difficult encounters making the exploration a bit more strategical to perform.
The main point of Wild Monster Hunt is to put you in difficult situations through a combination of repeated encounters during exploration & limited resources to overcome said encounters. The previous version of the mod was too clement both with the access to resources and the difficulty of the encounters it created. Progression is now much slower and deliberate
WMH Map
- moved a pillar that was always in the way after going back to camp
Gameplay & balance changes
- Lower loot rate of the supposedly "junk" containers
- Dynamically adjust the drop rate of items based on their rarity, more valuable items are now rarer
- Lower price of unlocking camp's merchant from 50 crowns to 25
- Lower amounts of items obtained from the camp's provisions to encourage leveling up the object more
- Increase all camp buff durations from 15 minutes to 60 minutes. The duration no longer scale with the level of the upgrade.
- Adjust filtering of the species based on the player's reputation level and the creature's estimated strength. This will result in more encounters or contracts with tougher enemies
- Increase requirements for getting difficult contract targets. With the previous change on the filtering, meeting the end-game enemies could happen sooner than intended
- No longer downscale enemies level. This created scenarios where a supposedly strong enemy could be killed in a few hits if facing a low level Geralt
